As your pregnancy progresses, small discomforts that may have come and gone over the years may now become a constant ache. Maybe it’s hard to sit at work. Is your sleep disrupted? Or is cooking dinner a pain?

Aching Back

Your pain is not necessary

Many people will dismiss your pain, saying it’s just part of pregnancy. But NO, even though our culture has concluded that prenatal pain is normal because so many women have it, your pain is not necessary. Instead, pain is a sign that your body is out of balance. Pain is your body’s call for help.

Why not grit your teeth and bear it? Because your mis-alignment will probably affect your birth. Tight muscles anywhere in your back, hips, legs and pelvis can restrict space that your baby needs to birth easily.

Mishaps

How did it get this bad? Maybe you fell off your bike as a kid. Or you were in a car accident. Get knocked around in vigorous sports? I see you, North Star Roller Derby gals. Any one of these mishaps can throw your body out of whack.

Habit patterns

Movement and resting positions that we do habitually become restrictions and imbalance. How do you move or not at work? At home? Do you stand leaning on one leg? Sit with one leg tucked under? Wear high heels? How we use our bodies day in, day out, sets up imbalances in muscle, ligament and fascia.
